2025-2026 Community Service Projects

Arts & Culture

Culture Club (ongoing)
The creation of small intimate groups of members who will do fun things that stimulate creativity in them and promote and strengthen camaraderie.

Members will participate in painting, sculpture, dance, theater, literature, music, film, architecture, fashion, design, and even culinary arts as their interests as schedules allow.

The Great Cupcake
Chapin Woman’s Club strongly supports the local Chapin Theater with grants and advertising. We also show our support for their fundraising efforts by providing 300 baked, decorated and boxed cupcakes by the CWC
membership.
Culture Tally (ongoing)
The Culture Tally’s goal is to provide thoughtful stimulation of fun and local culture events.
Every month the members will be encouraged to record cultural events they attend.
Paint and Sip
Artist and club member, Lytha Nicholson will open her home to the CWC membership for a painting class where each attendee will create an original piece of art while sipping on wine. Each attendee will take home their own
creation.
Perfect Purls
This is more than just a knitting club. The group embodies the essence of art, growth, communication, and fellowship among CWC club members.
Gathering at the Coffee Shelf every Thursday at 2:00 pm, a space is created where each stitch tells a story, and every conversation strengthens the bonds of friendship. CWC members can pop in for a blend of creativity, coffee, and connection that is as warm as the scarves being knitted.

Civic Engagement & Outreach

USO (ongoing)
Chapin Woman’s Club has been a proud supporter of the USO for many years.
South Carolina is home to Ft. Jackson, one of the largest basic training facilities for the US Army. Thousands of service members are deployed and/or return through Ft. Jackson and the Columbia airport. Snacks and water provided by the USO give nourishment to the service members as they board and arrive from long flights.
Meals on Wheels (ongoing)
Meals are delivered by club members to approximately 25 shut-ins. Chapin Woman’s Club members deliver Meals on Wheels 4 times a month.
Senior Bingo (ongoing)
Once a quarter, Chapin Woman’s Club members host senior bingo after Lunch Bunch. Members call BINGO, assist the participants and provide prizes for the winners. This project provides entertainment for our seniors and much-needed interactions for those who live alone.

First Responder Appreciation Bags (December)
Members of Chapin Woman’s Club assemble 52 appreciation bags for local fire fighters, police, sheriff and EMS workers for the Christmas holidays. The bags are filled with soups, water flavors, beef sticks, protein bars, peanut brittle, crackers, trail mix and nut snacks. Many first responders do not have time to eat between calls so they are very appreciative of the snack bags.

Education & Libraries

School Supply Drive for Sistercare (August)
Members are donating school supplies to Sistercare to enable students to be fully furnished with the needed supplies to make their learning more enjoyable.
Reading Across Chapin (March)
Chapin Woman’s Club members are reading books to younger students to help them get excited about reading.
Evening Acceleration Schools (EAS) (ongoing)
Food insecurity is a big issue for some in our community. The EAS is a tutoring program that students may participate in to help them be more successful in their classes. Many of the students who attend the program return home to empty houses or homes with little on the table for dinner. The contribution from our club is an afternoon snack or dinner.
Mentoring (ongoing)
Each of our scholarship recipients has a designated Chapin Woman’s Club member assigned to them throughout their college career Many of the scholarship recipients come from homes with little to no parental guidance or support. Mentors touch base with the students periodically throughout the year ad offer advice, moral support and guidance as needed.

Homeward Bound
Homeward Bound was founded by a team of volunteers with many years of experience in pet rescue. Their mission is to make a difference in our community by:
-
Rescuing stray, homeless and abandoned animals, primarily dogs, from high-kill shelters and owners who can no longer provide for them
-
Educating the public on the Importance of spaying and neutering their pets
-
Working with committed volunteers, foster homes and local veterinarians to achieve our goal to save lives
-
Ensuring each pet is adopted into a secure, loving home where they are treated as valued family members.

Matthew 25 Ministries
Prescription bottles are collected for inclusion in shipments of medical supplies and for shredding and recycling. The pill bottle program fulfills the dual needs of improving medical care in developing countries and caring for the environment.
