Members of Chapin Woman's Club recently rolled up their sleeves and formed a true assembly line—baking, icing, and decorating over 300 homemade cupcakes for the Chapin Community Theatre.

A beautiful new addition to our Butterfly Garden! 🦋
Chapin Woman's Club is proud to donate this bench to Crooked Creek Park, creating a peaceful place to pause, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of the butterflies and blooms.
Each spring, Chapin Woman's Club hosts our annual Butterfly Release and works year-round to maintain this special garden for the community. We hope this bench becomes a favorite spot for visitors to relax and experience the wonder of nature.

NEW! The Butterfly Learning Hub is an innovative, cross-service initiative uniting the Education and Environment community service project areas to connect children, students, and adults with the fascinating world of pollinators. Designed to foster environmental stewardship and curiosity across all age groups, the project's digital hub features interactive Webquests that encourage deeper inquiry, engaging coloring pages tailored for early learners, and a thoughtfully curated book list for every reading level. Expanding its reach even further, the platform will soon introduce interactive video content, offering learners an immersive way to discover and protect these vital insects.
Chapin Woman's Club members generously donated nearly $2,000 worth of school supplies to SisterCare—just in time for the new school year.

The General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC) is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
Chapin Woman's Club was recently recognized by the GFWC for their creative way to educate all members about their Community Service Programs (see article).

Chapin Woman's Club is more than just community service. While we take a break from meetings over the summer, our members stay busy planning an exciting year ahead.
We also take time to enjoy our summer, including a fun night at Segra Park to cheer on our local Fireflies baseball team. We love to make a difference in our community.

March 2026 Meeting
We had a full house today for GFWC - Chapin Woman's Club’s monthly club meeting. Among many other things, we celebrated Read Across America, as well as Dr. Suess’s birthday. Even green eggs and ham were on the menu!
Wear Red for Women's Heart Health
The Chapin Woman’s Club gathered for a “Red Dress” luncheon on 2/12026 to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death for women. Wearing red highlights support and unity against heart disease and stroke. February is American Heart Month.
Celebration Tables 2025
Chapin Woman’s Club held its Celebration Tables Fundraiser on December 6th. Many thanks to those who contributed to its success—the food and tables were fantastic, and everyone enjoyed themselves. View event photos by clicking here.

Mentors Make a Difference
Chapin Woman’s Club scholarship program features a strong mentoring component, pairing each recipient with a club member. We do a lot more than simply supplying funds for education.
On, December 21st, Scholarship recipients were honored at a luncheon hosted by Shannon Allonier, scholarship chair. The mentors provided a salad buffet, drinks and desserts.
The girls participated in an activity where they all left with a gift bag containing a piece of jewelry of their choice provided by Chris Woodworth. Everyone enjoyed this fellowship and holiday celebration.
Wreaths for Celebration Tables 2025
GFWC-Chapin Woman’s Club members gathered to make sprays and wreaths. These beautiful creations will be available to purchase at Celebration Tables 2025.
Friendsgiving 2025
GFWC-Chapin Woman’s Club members, along with friends and family, enjoyed Friendsgiving 2025 with delicious food and camaraderie.
Some of our Chapin Woman’s Club golfers enjoyed a few days at Willbrook Plantation Golf Club.

Our first BBQ, Boots & Boogie was a hit—the food, décor, and games were enjoyed by all, and Cynthia Shepherd kept us line dancing throughout the night. Thanks to everyone involved, proceeds will support scholarships and local charities—a fantastic mix of fun and giving.

GFWC National Day of Service

The GFWC International Day of Service is an annual event where members and clubs of the General Federation of Women's Clubs address a community issue. In 2025, the focus was on domestic and sexual violence.
GFWC-Chapin Woman's Club selected safe transportation for individuals seeking refuge as its local campaign. The club collected Uber and Lyft cards to assist with transportation needs.
On September 27th, CWV presented these cards to Lighthouse for Life to support their work.
Lighthouse For Life is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving survivors of sex trafficking in South Carolina.
Desserts for Chapin Community Theatre
Every August, Chapin Woman’s Club provides desserts for the Chapin Community Theatre’s Play Festival.
This year, Judie Bagwell led 14 bakers, 12 decorators, and 3 deliverers to produce and deliver over 300 cupcakes in under two hours.
Thanks to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church for use of their kitchen, and congratulations to Chapin Theatre Company on their successful event.
Rolling with the Best
Members of Chapin Woman’s club were lighting up the lanes with laughter on August 14th as they gathered for some bowling fun. Rolling with the best!
Lunch with Author Rebecca D'Amato

Chapin Woman’s Club’s Culture Club held an event for members, organized by Judie Bagwell and Beth Wolfe. The afternoon featured a book reading of "Me Being You" by author Rebecca D’Amato, who is Beth Wolfe’s sister. Seventeen members attended at the home of Judie Bagwell on Thursday, July 31st. Members learned about the process involved in writing a book, getting it published, and marketing it.
Chapin Woman’s Club facilitates social connections, engages in philanthropic activities within the community, and organizes a variety of events for participation. Membership is open to those interested in joining.

As the new school year begins, GFWC Chapin Woman’s Club was pleased to provide school supplies for students involved in Sistercare Programs.

The Culture Club had its inaugural event with a docent led tour at the Columbia Museum of Art.
We learned about the artist Sam Gilliam, and his particular style of art. Afterwards, the group went to lunch at Blue Marlin for food, fun and fellowship!

JULY 2025
Members of the GFWC-Chapin Woman’s Club visited Bomb Island to observe the Purple Martin Phenomenon, watching hundreds of purple martins return at night while sharing snacks on their boats.
Each summer, over a million Purple Martins roost on Bomb Island—the largest site in North America—offering a rare spectacle as they arrive and depart at dawn and dusk before migrating back to South America for winter.
